Guide To Working In Ibiza
Every year hundreds of thousands of revelers make the pilgrimage to Ibiza to hang out in the sunshine, strut their stuff in the clubs and drink the bars dry. And with them go thousands more slightly less party oriented (or maybe not..) peeps to serve them drinks, hand them flyers, sell them...whatever! If you want to join them and work in Ibiza in 2011 you're sure to have a summer you'll never forget, but first things first - you need to think about the job you are going to get to pay for your Ibiza season.
Love Ibiza Ibiza summer job board
The loveibiza.net Ibiza summer job board is the only place you need to look to hook yourself up with a job in Ibiza next year. If you've done a season working before you'll know there's only a couple of ways to give yourself an above average chance of finding a decent summer job in Ibiza. Before you consult the job board, here are a few hints and tips about how to get the perfect summer job in Ibiza:
If you think you are just going to walk into a job at dancing at Pacha or serving drinks in Café Del Mar then you’ve probably had a bit too much sun. Do you know how many other people want to do that job? Yes a LOT. That’s why if you’re serious about doing a season in Ibiza you need to start thinking about it now.
Prepare
Go out in May and bar hop asking for jobs. Show your face (if it’s a pretty face clearly you’re going to have an extra advantage – this is Ibiza remember) and see if you can get someone to commit to taking you on. Before you go, have a list of the places you are going to target. Pacha is open all year round but some of the Ibiza clubs and bars are seasonal so there’s often no point going before May. Make sure you take lots of copies of your CV and a photo.
Alternatively, go back to a job you've had the previous summer. Make contact with your old boss, let them know you’re interested and get something in writing.
Research
Browse internet forums to get an idea of exactly what you want to do. If you’re not good with nudity then dancing on a podium in some sequined knickers probably isn’t going to suit you.
Get On With It
Get out there and show your face everywhere you want to work. Be convincing and use everything on your CV to demonstrate why you’re the best person for the job. Do not give up when you get repeated knockbacks – this is one of the most competitive summer job markets and nothing is going to be handed to you on a plate.
Don’t Screw Up
When you do finally get the job then make sure you keep reminding yourself why you’re there. If you want to earn some money then don’t go out partying all night and end up turning up late for your shifts in a complete mess. If you want to build up a photographer’s portfolio don’t get so drunk that all your pictures are of you being sick on your shoes. Eyes on the prize.
Other
Although these may not be particularly fair, it may also help if you have a family member who owns a bar somewhere on the island (or a good mate who has a family member), you’re Spanish (or speak it fluently), or (rather predictably) you’re beautiful and you’re a decent dancer.
All this will help you get the perfect job in Ibiza and for an extra leg up then consult our Ibiza job board. We list as many summer jobs as possible, not just from our advertisers but from other job boards, forums, websites- basically we take the legwork out of getting those heads-up leads on hot jobs when you touch down in Ibiza in 2011 for your season of fun.
