PR/ Flyering Jobs in Ibiza

Ibiza is most probably best known for all the opportunities to party in the form of the wealth of club nights that happen across the island most nights of the summer. With so much going on, obviously there is a need for people to promote and advertise events and club nights. This is why PR and flyering jobs are so readily available in Ibiza – your job is basically to get the word out to as many people as possible so the lines for the club stretch round the block.

What's the pay like?

PR jobs such as selling tickets can pay well while flyering jobs usually do not pay very much, only about 25 to 30 Euros a day. However, these jobs often come with other benefits like employer provided accommodations and free or discount passes to clubs. And of course, there is the sun, the beach and the laid-back attitude in Ibiza that makes it all worth the work.

Have you got what it takes?

If you speak Spanish then you will have an advantage when looking for a job and if you’re an outgoing and sociable sort, able to charm the birds out of the trees then you’re going to suit the role perfectly. Although it’s clearly not very politically correct, if you’re an absolute stunner then a potential employer is likely to see more value in you handing out their flyers, than if you look like you’ve been hit with the ugly stick.

When should you apply?

If you want this kind of work then you are better off showing up early in the season around April or May and start hunting for a job straight away. You can expect to be asked to work a short trial period but this should last no more than a couple of days – if a potential employer is asking you to work a week or more without pay then don’t bother with them.

Top tips

As far as the job itself goes, stamina and comfortable flip-flops are a must for these types of jobs, as you will be walking a lot and working late 6 - 7 nights a week. The downside of the job is that you’re going to be working whilst everyone around you is partying so if you can’t handle that then don’t go. 60% of people don’t survive the first three weeks as a PR/flyering so hitting it too hard is going to see you heading home before you’ve even got started. Keep it professional and don’t turn up unable to walk in a straight line or spend the whole night chatting up a blonde in a bar. Do it right and you’ll end up with club passes, free drinks and plenty of other opportunities for getting to know all the holidaymakers.

Legal requirements

It is possible to work short term in Ibiza without being a resident of Spain, but for those wishing to work the whole season will need to register with the police and get a ‘permiso de residencia' that lasts a year, however most Brits in Ibiza never bother with this formality and its unlikely an employer will expect it.
