Ibiza culture
Ibiza culture
Ibiza may not be a classic cultural mecca of a European holiday destination on the scale of say Rome, Paris or London but in its own way Ibiza has carved out its own unique culture based on its cultural heritage and more importantly its world beating club scene.
If you've been to Ibiza before or you know anyone who has you're sure to of heard about the incredible atmosphere of the superclubs and tales of the best nights of peoples lives. The impact of an Ibiza clubbing experience out- guns anything you'll find in Faliraki or Aiya Napa partly because of its superior clubs but mostly because of the shared values of the holidaymakers and locals who pack into Ibiza clubs during the season.
Ibiza club culture
Ibiza club culture has very little attitude. Most of the big parties have a rave like vibe where people are for the most part given the freedom to do and dress as they wish providing they don't intrude on other clubbers also out to have a good time.
Ibiza culture on the whole is derived a lot from its hippy ancestory in the 60's when Ibiza first came into the spotlight as a hedonists mecca. Today hippy colonies still reside on the island and past hippys still make regular pilgrimages and this still seems to rub off on the club scene even though most clubs and parties are now owned by big commercial promoters.
Music culture
Music is also a cultural factor in the Ibiza club scene, trance, baleric and commercial house which dominate the Ibiza music scene attract a dedicated following with clubbers following their favourite DJ's who may only role into their home towns once a year but play residencies at the Ibiza superclubs. This, and also for many the drug culture, help to define a club scene which sets the standard for the rest of the world.
