Cala Tarida
Ibiza Holiday Resorts
Fifteen minutes drive from San Antonio is the sheltered bay that houses the tiny resort of Cala Tarida. The resort is well known for its incredibly long beach and for the beautiful colours of the waters around it, that range in shades of blue from azure to turquoise and change in the rays of the setting sun.
Cala Tarida Beach
The enormous beach of fine, white sand is one of Cala Tarida’s main selling points and one of the reasons tourists return year on year to the resort. The beautiful clear waters are shallow for quite a way out which makes it a good spot for paddling and swimming and for getting to see plenty of marine life through your snorkeling mask. Just a little way out from the shore is a collection of rocks in the middle of the bay so if you’re feeling the need to get away from your fellow holiday makers, you can swim out and have some alone time (unless everyone else has the same idea of course). Activities on the beach range from flat out on a sun lounger with a beer and a book, to pedaloes and beach volleyball. There’s also a diving school where you can get some tips on the best places and techniques for snorkeling.

Things to do in Cala Tarida
The resort has a family vibe and is a good alternative to some of the noisier resorts down the coast for clubbers who want to recuperate after a heavy night. The huge beach is south facing and so bathed in sunshine from dawn to dusk, giving you plenty of opportunity to get that enviable Ibiza golden glow. There’s not a lot of shade to be have so it’s worth investing in a parasol for your sun lounger or taking some kind of cover up.
Cala Tarida has plenty of food options, from snack bars, to restaurants where you can have a full on sit down meal. Obviously there isn’t the same kind of choice you might find in some of the larger resorts but you’re unlikely to go hungry. One place to look out for is the beachfront Cas Mila Chiringuito Restaurant which is a great place to go for breakfast and has its own beachwear boutique.
Accommodation in Cala Tarida
Accommodation at Cala Tarida tends to be in the form of the hotels that are built around the beautiful beach, but there are also apartment complexes and private villas available – all for a wide range of budgets and expectations. Most of the rooms have fantastic sea views and all the hotels cater for children (see all our Ibiza hotels).
Nightlife in Cala Tarida
In terms of nightlife, you won’t find yourself in the centre of the action at Cala Tarida, which is a great advantage if you’re planning on getting any sleep, and probably a bit boring if your plan is to stay up for as long as you can before you pass out. There are several bars but no nightclub and if you want to hit it hard, it’s probably a good idea to make use of the resort’s excellent transport connections and go to San Antonio or Ibiza Town.
You can get the bus to San Antonio, or if you’re truly into the beachside vibe, you can hop on the boat and sail around the coast. If you’ve drained the West End dry, done the waterparty at Es Paradis and decided that neither this clubbing institution, nor neighbour Eden, are enough for your night out, you can catch a bus from San Antonio to Playa D’En Bossa to get to Space and Bora Bora, or to Ibiza Town to drop in at Pacha.
