Since it started out in 2005, Ibiza Rocks has become something of a superbrand. From organizing gigs in venues all across Ibiza, Ibiza Rocks is now a fashion label, a hotel and has even spawned a cousin across the Med in the form of ‘Mallorca Rocks.’ On top of this there are the ever-popular club nights – Reclaim The Dancefloor – and the fact that Ibiza Rocks is basically responsible for the indie invasion of the little island - that’s one pretty impressive history in such a short space of time.
Ibiza Rocks 2011 Line-ups & Tickets
The organizers behind Ibiza Rocks “invaded Ibiza with a guitar” and since then names such as The Kooks, Arctic Monkeys, Calvin Harris, Dizzee Rascal and Pendulum have graced the Ibiza Rocks flyers. In 2011 they will be running an amazing 17 weeks of gigs every Wednesday in Ibiza from 1 June with no doubt the same high quality selections when it comes to headliners and their support bands.
Ibiza Rocks - The Venue
In previous years, Bar M has been the venue for Ibiza Rocks parties but all the gigs now happen within the Ibiza Rocks hotel, a three star hotel in the centre of San Antonio with studios for 3 or 4 adults or in one bedroomed apartments and rock n roll facilities like three pools, an American diner and, of course, a merchandise store. Getting a room at the hotel is the best way to make sure you’re at the centre of the Ibiza Rocks action as once a week, come night fall, the pool in the centre of the hotel is covered over, a stage appears and you can watch some of the biggest names in music take to the stage from the comfort of your balcony (or down the front in the middle of the mosh pit).
When Ibiza Rocks!
The main event of the week is set to take place every Wednesday for 2011 but there’s an ongoing events program from the team behind the legendary Manumission with pool parties with DJ sets, boat parties and pre-club parties. The cost of the actual gig tickets (other than acoustic gigs) is included in the price of the hotel.
Afterparty
The Ibiza Rocks opening party for 2011 is 1 June and the closing party 21 September and there are already Early Bird discounts available from the company’s website. It’s a good idea also to look out for details of the after parties – in previous years these have been held at Es Paradis – as you can get in free with your Ibiza Rocks gig wristband before 1am.
Given that Ibiza has always been such a clubbing haven, bringing indie over via Ibiza Rocks was a brave (and some would have said at the time) slightly foolish move. But the risks the promoters took have clearly paid off as it’s now one of the must see events of the summer season. As the Ibiza Rocks promoter himself said, “it’s safe to say that the debate is over and Ibiza Rocks!”
