With the opening of the Ibiza Rocks Hotel in 2008 Ibiza Rocks holds a pretty strong monopoly for live indie and rock music in Ibiza.
Ibiza Rocks is a concept night formed by the manumission team in association with Sony Ericsson (not sure why) which first brough indie music to Ibiza in 2005 and has gone from strength to strength since with regular packed crowds throughout 2007/8.
Ibiza Rocks originally played out at Bar M (the Manumission bar) on the San Antonio waterfront. The bar, although small, proved a good venue for live music in Ibiza and saw the likes of Kaiser Chiefs, Hard-Fi, babyshambles and Kasabian playing at Ibiza Rocks over the last few years.
The Ibiza Rocks Brand
Ibiza Rocks has spawned off into its own brand releasing compilation CD's as well as a full summer line-up every week at Bar M making it one of the big Ibiza success stories of the last few years and opening Ibiza up to a new audience by bridging the traditional dance genre.
Ibiza Rocks tickets vary in price depending on who's playing. If you're an indie fan or just fancy something different to break up your week Ibiza Rocks is an excellent opportunity to see some top bands in an interesting, unique venue!
We've been waiting patiently since the end of last season to find out what the score would be with this year's Ibiza Rocks, the weekly event which sees the biggest bands from around the world party in the Ibizan sun! Launched back in 2008 with loads of hype and Ibiza regulars concerned that the indie rock invasion of electronic music's homeland would destroy all that the White Isle had become, Ibiza Rocks eventually found its feet and managed to produce thousands of satisfied clubbers!
Ibiza Rocks is probably the most unique night going; staged at the Ibiza Rocks hotel with some rooms overlooking the pool area (which morphs into the stage area come Tuesday), residents at the hotel can party in the comfort of their private balcony! Not only does this mean that booze is significantly cheaper than in the super clubs, it also gives clubbers the privacy and space that is lacking at virtually every other club on the island.
Ibiza Rocks: Bigger, Bolder, Brasher
Finally we can announce that Ibiza Rocks is back, and this year it's set to be bigger than ever! Kicking off the 2009 season on the last Tuesday of June are The Kooks, fresh from Brighton beach with their distinctive guitar rock that we all love to sing along to! July will see the likes of Pendulum, who reclaimed the limelight in the summer of 2008 with drum and bass tracks that appealed to the masses and who will no doubt be immense at Ibiza Rocks, with The Enemy returning for another bash in the summer sun! Check out our Calendar for full listings, updated as soon as we get the nod as to who's performing - which is always before any other site claiming to be in the know!
2009's line-up is bigger and brasher than last and promises to provide even better memories to those that experience this incredible fiesta! If you can make it check out the Closing Party as we've had word that the special guest, yet to be announced officially, really is very special indeed!
