Legendary Ibiza club Amnesia was first brought into the public spotlight with its feature in the Kevin & Perry movie but regular Ibiza goers have loved the club long before for its ice cannons and awesome sound system. Cream at Amnesia is one of the biggest and best-known nights in Ibiza and happens every Thursday of the season.

Amnesia in Ibiza - Trance Heaven

Amnesia has its disco roots in the 70's and today is a mecca for all breeds of dance fanatics with a strong following among trance and techno fans.

Amnesia now hosts a number of nights during the season, including techno-tastic Cocoon (every Monday), Tonight ( new to Amnesia 2011 every Tuesday), featuring residents Eric Prydz and Annie Mac, and the party for which it is best known: Cream (every Thursday).  MTV and Amnesia are also coming together in 2011 to bring you I Want My MTV Ibiza, with artists, such as Duran Duran, Snoop Dogg, Primal Scream and Layo and Bushwacka confirmed for this season's lineup. 

The nights are huge with DJs like Tiesto, Paul Van Dyke, Sven Vath, Danny Tenaglia, Laurent Garnier and the legendary Carl Cox regularly gracing the decks, as well as the club’s own residents. The big name DJs and the mix of music, from Balearic House to techno, make it one of the biggest and best dance party venues in the world.

For a slightly messier night out, there’s the Espuma parties (every  Sunday) where you’re advised to “bring a t shirt and a towel as you will be covered in foam”! Enough said.

Inside Amnesia

Inside, the sala principal is usually considered the 'main room' and therefore generally ‘bangin.’ Partygoers who can’t afford to get up into the air conditioned luxury of the VIP bar that makes up the club’s upper floor, can position themselves in front of the ice cannons on the dance floor and get a regular icy blast to cool down. The dance floor is littered with speaker stacks that are usually treated like climbing frames and you’ll find the usual selection of scantily clad podium dancers throughout the club. Outside, the terrace is enclosed in a greenhouse and dotted with atmospheric palm trees under which you can enjoy the more chilled out, housey beats.

For an Ibiza holiday Amnesia is a ‘must do’ club – if you find the intensity of the main room with its incredible sound system is a bit much, there's always a place to cool down and chill out in the more spacious terrace or VIP bar.

One of the secrets to the club’s enormous success lies in the quality of its sound. The club was previously open air and whilst putting a roof on it might have lost a bit of that sense of freedom, it’s definitely allowed the club to gain in volume. Today Amnesia has one of the most advanced sound systems (Expanded Amnesia Technology) due to the dynamic electronic process. Its function is to analyze and submit frequencies that provoke the human body to feel sensations that compare to having a sound massage... enjoy it!

2010 was Amnesia’s 20th anniversary and the club celebrated in style with epic line-ups over the entire summer.

Amnesia Information

Location

Amnesia is about 5-10 minutes in a cab out of San Antonio on the main road. The nearest village and point on the map is San Rafael but everyone knows 'Amnesia'.

Getting there

Free buses run from San Antonio on the big nights or there's ok parking if you're that way inclined. There's also free parking on the road or behind the club.

Getting back

Usually plenty of cabs outside at kicking out time.

Prices

Don't expect a cheap night at Amnesia these days. Big nights like Cream and Cocoon will cost around the €50 mark. Entry on other days costs between €20 and €30.

A bottle of water will set you back €12 as will a spirit and mixer. If you make it into the VIP bars upstairs you’ll be paying a lot more.
