Santa Eulalia
While Ibiza is known as a party haven, not all corners of this Balearic island are geared exclusively toward club hopping Ibiza holidays. One such exemption is the town of Santa Eulalia.
This town, which is one of the larger cities on the island, is also one of the wealthiest thanks to its long history. Santa Eulalia is located on the only river that runs through the island, making it an important trade hub that has attracted settlers since the Romans.
In fact, a Roman bridge still stands today. There are a number of other historic sites of interest, including Puig de Missa, a fort-like structure located on the top of the hill over the city. Originally designed as a defensive post against marauding pirates, today Puig de Missa serves as a ethnographic museum.
As the settlement grew and flourished over time, it gained in population and wealth. Today the accumulated wealth has been used by the city to build up Santa Eulalia as a prime family holiday spot. The beach is family friendly, offering plenty of water sporting activities for people of all ages to enjoy. In town, guests can appreciate the quaint shops and cafes that dot the streets.
Of particular note is the promenade that runs the length of the beach and offers a shady walkway. Sometimes referred to as the Mariner's Walk, strolling along this promenade not only gives scenic views over the beach, but also winds by shops and eateries before going out into the countryside.
If you're looking for a bit of culture during your Ibiza holidays Santa Eulalia may be the resort for you.
