Cala Llonga
Ibiza Holiday Resorts
If you’re looking for a magnificent beach on which to spend all your holiday days then Cala Llonga is the Ibiza spot for you. The resort sits perched on the East Coast of Ibiza, approximately 10km north of Ibiza Town and 5km south of Santa Eulalia.
Cala Llonga is known for being a small, self contained resort that has maintained the peaceful atmosphere of the farming community that lived there long before all the tourists invaded. 30 years ago the beach was only reachable by boat and 500 years ago was a favourite of the local smugglers, so it has certainly come a long way since then.
Cala Llonga Beach
Cala Llonga is one of the biggest beaches on the island with the golden arc of sand stretching 100 metres down the sea and stretching out to 200 metres long. It is the focal point for the resort and well equipped with plenty of sun loungers and parasols, as well as an impressive array of beach activities. There is a diving school at Cala Llonga where you can learn the skills to take you to see some of the fabulous underwater wildlife around the island, and there are also opportunities to water-ski, parasail and windsurf. There are regular beach volleyball games for those who prefer to stay on dry land, as well as plenty of playground space for kids. The sea is very shallow for quite a long way out at Cala Llonga, which makes it a popular choice for families.

Things to do in Cala Llonga
Cala Llonga is “first and foremost a family resort” and there are plenty of facilities for children, from the playground on the seafront, to the mini amusement park and the snack bars and cafes catering to childish tastes. The resort’s restaurants are plentiful and most are very family orientated and welcoming to children. The range of cuisine available includes tradition British pub grub (of course) and fresh seafood. For something a bit special, Wild Asparagus Restaurant is a little further up the hillside and out from the bay, close to the main coastal road linking Ibiza Town and Santa Eulalia, and has a gourmet style international menu and stunning views of the Cala Llonga beach and bay.
Whilst not as well populated with shops as some of the more active resorts, Cala Llonga has stores selling everything you could possibly want to buy on a holiday, including a chemist, supermarket and beach, craft and gift shops.
Accommodation in Cala Llonga
Accommodation at Cala Llonga is geared towards catering for the families who descend on the resort each year and so there are a large number of apartments available, as well as some lovely hotels. Most are just a few steps away from the beach and conveniently located near the shops and restaurants of the resort (see all our Cala Llonga hotels).
Nightlife in Cala Llonga
Nightlife is not the first concern for the locals and holiday makers at Cala Llonga and consists mainly of live shows at the main hotels, as well as the bar and pub type establishments of the resort. However, it’s still an ideal base for a clubber, as the town is incredibly well connected to the major resorts and all the best-known clubs. Privilege sits on the main road between San Antonio and Ibiza Town, Space just beyond that and Pacha in the port of Ibiza Town. All can be reached by taxi or bus from Cala Llonga without too much hassle. If you want to be right in the thick of the action then perhaps Cala Llonga is not the resort for you, but one advantage it definitely does have is that you get to sleep all day in the peace and quiet of a resort that isn’t packed with 24 hour clubbing fanatics and emerge fresh come sun down for more of the same.
