The Ibiza holiday census was a survey Love Ibiza conducted of Ibiza holidaymakers and workers who visited Ibiza in the summer of 2009. Responses were collected from 232 members of the love Ibiza community or Facebook page between November 2009 - January 2010. Our respondents were a good mix of male/ famle (51%/49% respectively). The vast majority were from the UK and 90% were holidaymakers with the other 10% visiting Ibiza for a working holiday) View full demographic info here
Below we have summarised the findings of each section of the survey. You can follow the links to the full data at the bottom of the page.
Ibiza holidays
- July was the most popular month for visiting Ibiza with 36% of respondents starting their holidays during July 09. Dispite many clubs being open in May and October only 1% visited during these months indicating their is still a huge inbalance to the clubbing holiday calendar.Key point45% were 'Ibiza virgins' visiting for the first time
- 45% were 'Ibiza virgins' visiting for the first time, indicating Ibiza is starting to draw in a new crowd, the increase in alternative music on the island with nights like Ibiza Rocks may be partly responsible for this.
- Over 50% visited fro a one week (7 night) holiday
- Despite the attraction of cheap last minute holidays to Ibiza only 17% booked late or last minute, with 64% booking at least 3 months before departure, making January - March the most important booking period for travel agents. This also means the majority book their holiday before the club line-ups have been announced.
- A massive 78% said they'd go back to Ibiza next year. Only 1% said they'd never go back!

Working holidays
- Surprisingly 65% of workers surveyed said it was their first time in Ibiza when they visited
- 30% arrived in June, after the real start to the season. The spread of workers arriving in Ibiza throughout the season was less front loaded to the early months than we would expect.
- 50% found a job upon arrival in Ibiza and din't have anything pre-arranged. This is still the most popular way for first time workers to find employment. Only 12% couldn't find a job. 30% said they found it 'easy' to find a job in Ibiza.
- The majority worked for bars or clubs either PR'ing, selling tickets, bar work and dancing. Few worked in more core tourist industries like hotels and restaurants indicating this work is still the domain of the locals.
- Notable comments:
The best way to find DJ work in Ibiza is to visit the island in person. Get there early in the season. Be persistent and professional and you'll find an opportunity:-)
