Looking Back on the Ibiza Summer 2011

Posted by: Isabelle123 in Untagged  on

carl cox at space revolution partyMy, what a summer it has been. We said hello to MTV who, this year, lost their ‘Beefa virginity. The uber cool, and sickeningly luxurious Ushuaia opened it doors, not only to the public, but also to the superstars of the music industry. Urban music shook the island, and people’s opinions. We welcomed new nights and new venues, but we also said goodbye to The Streets, who played their last ever gig at Ibiza Rocks. Lets have a deeper look at 5 things that rocked our G-string this summer:

Does Hip Hop have a home in Ibiza?

Usher in Ibiza 2011Say the word “Ibiza” and what comes into your head? For me, I instantly think of beautiful weather, gorgeous scenery, hedonism and most importantly, music. Dance music. Be it trance, house or techno, I know that when I go to Ibiza, I’m guaranteed the very finest. However in 2008 the launch of Ibiza Rocks disturbed me momentarily, with their sudden input of music without a repetitive electronic beat... and now I, and every other lover of the White Isle are being asked to accept a genre alien to Ibiza- Hip Hop!

You’ve always had those R’n’B and club classics bars in the likes of San Antonio, but now we’re seeing hip hop artists perform in the very clubs we know and love. Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, P Diddy, Busta Rhymes?! I find it less difficult to understand other urban artists who are performing this year such as Usher and the Black Eyed Peas, as both of these artists have collaborated with the biggest names in the commercial dance music scene, David Guetta and Swedish House Mafia, but I’m just still slightly flummoxed at why these hip hop heavyweights are being given gigs?

A-List Ibiza!

holidays ibizaIbiza is not just for hedonistic workers, Club 18 - 30 drunkards or holidaying music lovers. Ibiza is, and always has been, a favourite holiday destination for the rich and famous. From WAGs and their footballer counterparts, including Abbey Clancy and Peter Crouch, to pop stars including sisters Dannii and Kylie Minogue, through to royalty, with 2006 seeing a visit from William and Kate.

We’re going to give you a quick insight into the best celebrity haunts in Ibiza; bars, restaurants, hotels and villas, so you too can party like a rock star!

Best of Ibiza's Boat Parties 2011

Posted by: Isabelle123 in Untagged  on

Boat party IbizaWhen visiting Ibiza you have to experience a boat party. When else in the year are you going to float on the beautiful calming Balearic sea, alongside wild uninhabited (humans, that is) rocky islands and likeminded clubbers whilst listening to your favourite tunes? There are so many boat parties to choose from, but luckily we’ve put together some of the hottest boat parties on the White Isle for you!

Pukka Up!

Firstly, possibly one of the best and longest running boat party is Pukka Up. This departs from Playa D’en Bossa on Tuesdays and San Antonio on both Tuesdays and Fridays. The boat from Playa D’en Bossa costs €65, which seems a little steep, but does include entry to the boat (along with one free drink and free on-board BBQ) and entry to Carl Cox at Space that evening. The boat from San Antonio is €55, includes entry to the boat, either entry to Carl Cox or Come Together, both at Space, depending on the day you go, one free drink and most importantly, a breathtaking and unforgettable experience watching the sunset. See below to purchase tickets!

How to lose your Ibiza virginity in 7 days

Posted by: Isabelle123 in Untagged  on

Space IbizaEverybody starts out as an Ibiza virgin, (unless you’re born there) and Ibiza can be a very intimidating place for a newbie. There are so many clubs, so many events, so many bars. With so much being thrown at you, it’s hard to know where to go and what to do. This is why I have put together a little itinerary, a small introduction into this beautiful island. Take 7 days and do Ibiza properly.

Cream Opening Party 2011 Review

Posted by: Isabelle123 in Untagged  on

cream ibiza 2011It’s twenty past eleven and I’m sitting on the free bus to Amnesia. I have to say; on this trip to Ibiza I’ve spent far less money on transport than I usually do. I think I’m getting cheaper the older I’m getting. The bus had been put on by Union, a London student night who had organised a post-exams package holiday to de-stress lots of innocent, naïve Ibiza first-timers. Also organised by Union and running alongside this package holiday was the “British Student DJ Championships”, now in its second year, with the winner of the 2011 title getting to play the opening set of the Terrace at Cream opening party. Impressive prize!
