Ibiza Radio 1 Weekend 2010

I've been a bit late posting this, been away for a bit. The Ibiza BBC Radio 1 weekend 2010 is going to be on the weekend of the 6th-8th August. This is a week later than we were predicting based on the dates from the last few years.

For anyone who doesn't know radio 1 weekend in Ibiza is the busiest few days of the season with a number of special parties put on by the BBC which are broadcast live on the radio back home. Without further adue here's our run-down of the 2010 Radio 1 weekend in Ibiza...

Pre-recorded sessions

Before the weekend proper kicks off there's 2 Radio 1 shows which will be recorded and broadcast over the weekend on the Radio in the UK, if you're in Ibiza that week these may be worth checking out:

Monday 2nd August - Cocoon @ Amnesia - with Sven Vath and Andre Galluzzi

Thursday 5th August - Come together @ Space - with Josh Wink, Troy Pierce, Zane Lowe and Mark Ronson

Friday - Ibiza Rocks Hotel live shows

In 2010 things are going to kick off on the Friday night at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel with the Radio 1 dance residents Annie Mac and Pete Tong broadcasting their shows from the live stage. Nothing too special about this, Love Ibiza readers will probably be most interested in the Swedish House Mafia who are guests during Pete Tong's show. No word yet on whether all 3 members of the Swedish House Mafia will be in attendance.

These Ibiza Rocks specials have been a big hit in the last few years although holding this on the friday night means no sunset show at Mambo which was for many the highlight of the Radio 1 weekend in past years.

The Ibiza Rocks event is free to get in but its also going to be massively oversubscribed. We'll update this post with ticketing details if/ when they're announced although the advice in previous years has been to turn up as early as possible and hope for the best. If you're staying at Ibiza Rocks Hotel on the dates of the weekend you'll get free entry.

Saturday - Cream @ Privilege special Radio 1 party

The Radio schedule for the weekend has 2 evening shows scheduled although we're not sure at this stage where these are broadcasting from:

Cream, who threw a massive special event last year to coincide with the radio 1 weekend have done it again in 2010 with a Cream/ Radio 1 special at Privilege on the saturday night headlined by Underworld. Tickets are still available for this but we'd definitely recommend booking them in advance. You can get tickets at the following places for about £40:

If you're planning on going out for the Radio 1 weekend in 2010 don't leave it too late to book your flights and hotels as in previous years Ibiza has been pretty much fully booked over these dates so get in there now to avoid disappointment. 

If you've left it late probably the cheapest way to get out there will be on a last minute package deal. For about £400 you can get a flights and hotel package for Thursday- Thursday coinciding with the Radio 1 weekend.
