Judgement Sundays 2012 Announced

Posted by: isabellesalter in Untagged  on

judgement sundays 2012Put the 10th June in your diaries, because the opening of Judgement Sundays has been announced, and it looks pretty tasty. Along with the big man himself, Mr Judge Jules, you’re also treated to Radio One favourite Kutski, baby-faced Norwegian producer Ørjan Nilsen, and regulars Jordan Suckley and Tristan D, with an equally as tempting second room.

This is the 13th year on the island for Judgement Sundays, so it’s safe to say they know the format to an amazing party. You’re looking at being provided with 15 weeks of high quality trance and house brought to you by some of the biggest names out there including Marco V, Richard Durand, Eddie Halliwell, Cosmic Gate and Claudia Cazacu.

Danny Tenaglia Resigns

Posted by: isabellesalter in Untagged  on

So, after a career spanning over thirty years, Danny Tenaglia has decided to “resign” from DJing. In a lengthy statement via his Facebook, Tenaglia stated, “The Time Has Come for ME to ‘finally’ BE MYSELF!!”. All future gigs, aside from his belated birthday gig at Pacha on 27th April, have been cancelled.

In his long and slightly rambling statement, Tenaglia mentioned that he’s played at every Winter Music Conference for the past 26 years, and every season in Ibiza since 2000. Not many people can say that, and still have the ability for normal speech and sane thought. At 51-years-old, Danny Tenaglia is admirably taking a step back from the hedonistic world of DJing and undergoing some much deserved R+R, which includes making his long-awaiting permanent move from New York to Miami.

Ibiza 123 Rocktronic Festival

Posted by: isabellesalter in Untagged  on

ibiza 123 festivalAs the festival scene declines back in the UK this year due to the Olympics, it seems Ibiza has decided to try its hand at producing one. Set over the first three days of July this year, Ibiza 123 Rocktronic festival is a new venture by veteran DJ and co-founder of the IMS, Pete Tong, three rather important guys from the Pacha franchise, Danny Whittle, Ben Turner and Mark Netto, the chairman of Live Nation’s Spanish division Pino Sagliocco and a representative of event management company The Shop Ibiza, Simeon Friend. Quite a line up – and we haven’t even got to the acts yet.

When you mention the word ‘festival’ in the UK we think of wellies, mud, rain, tents… it’s not very glamourous and often quite messy. However something tells me that Ibiza’s going to do this quite differently. There is going to be 3 concert areas and a not-so-British beach area, Café Del Mar will be hosting the chill out are and there’s also those inevitable VIP tents which are due to be hosted by Pacha, AmnesiaSpace and Ushuaia. Oh and not to forget there will be a typically Ibizan hippy market.

Sankey's Opening 2012

Posted by: isabellesalter in Untagged  on

sankeys opening fiesta 2012Last summer saw the start of something beautiful. Manchester club Sankey’s arrived on the White Isle smack bang in the heart of Playa Den Bossa. Known back home as the northern epicentre of house and techno; it was felt that 2011 was the year to take on the world’s clubbing capital.

Back in May 2011, the powers at Sankey’s HQ felt one opening fiesta was not quite enough to make themselves be heard, so decided on a cheeky three-day opening party; presenting us with some of the finest acts in underground house and techno such as Kaiserdisco, John Dahlback and Butch. However this year, thing are getting bigger. Much bigger. They are upping stakes by stretching the opening extravaganza to an almost greedy five nights over a seven day period. The two official opening parties are on Thursday 24th May and Friday 25th May, with three further events throughout the following week with some disgusting brilliant acts confirmed including Basement Jaxx, Tiefschwarz, Joy Orbison, Heidi….need we go on?

A Winter Holiday Wonderland in Ibiza

Posted by: john in Untagged  on

ibiza sunset in winterIbiza might not be the most obvious choice for a winter break but the much loved Balearic island actually has a lot more to offer than just the beaches and nightlife that have made it such a popular sun seeker destination. When the summer crowds head for home, the island takes on a whole new life and those who are looking for a temperate winter getaway, good food and wine, stylish accommodation and lots to do will find Ibiza fits the bill perfectly.

Winter holidays in Ibiza have one huge advantage over other European destinations and that’s the weather. The average winter temperature in Ibiza is 15 degrees Celsius but you may find – especially in early winter and early spring – that temperatures actually climb to more like 25 degrees Celsius, particularly when the sun is out. Although there can be rain during this time, if the locals are to be believed this will never last longer than three days at a time! There’s also plenty of sunshine, particularly compared to other European destinations, so a winter holiday in Ibiza offers a great cure for the winter blues.

Posted by: john in Untagged  on

stag weekend ibizaWe’ve discussed Ibiza stag and hen parties before on loveibiza.net and like we said then, the idea of stag weekend culture may not sit comfortably with the Ibiza purists, the truth is that these days Ibiza is a multi-purpose destination and while tourist resorts in the rest of Europe are struggling, its Ibiza’s versatility as a destination that will help to keep the good times going.

If you’re planning a stag do or hen weekend then, lets face it Ibiza is the perfect destination. Whether you’re looking for elegant restaurants and fabulous spas, or cocktail fuelled clubbing and late, late nights, there’s plenty to keep groups busy and lots of opportunities for all the usual stag and hen do traditions. It can be a bit daunting trying to put together a schedule for a group trip to the island so here are a few suggestions for an itinerary. If you’re looking to outsource the best man or bridesmaid duties entirely then our friends at Red7 have put together some nice packages for your Ibiza hen weekend or Ibiza stag do which include flights, accommodation and activities and are ATOL protected so you can just roll up and concentrate on the partying!

Looking Back on the Ibiza Summer 2011

Posted by: Isabelle123 in Untagged  on

carl cox at space revolution partyMy, what a summer it has been. We said hello to MTV who, this year, lost their ‘Beefa virginity. The uber cool, and sickeningly luxurious Ushuaia opened it doors, not only to the public, but also to the superstars of the music industry. Urban music shook the island, and people’s opinions. We welcomed new nights and new venues, but we also said goodbye to The Streets, who played their last ever gig at Ibiza Rocks. Lets have a deeper look at 5 things that rocked our G-string this summer:
