San Antonio Beach

S’Arenal de San Antonio is San Antonio’s main beach and stretches 500 metres along the coast, eventually joining up with the Bay. It’s a very central beach as it’s smack, bang in the middle of San Antonio, so very convenient if you’re staying in San Antonio and don’t feel like driving or jumping on a hot bus. This is a beach for the active (not surprising really given it’s location) and there’s a wide range of watersports available to keep you busy, including sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing and diving.

You can also arrange a boat trip from S’Arenal de San Antonio to other beaches like Cala Conta or if you’re suffering a bit from the night before, rent a pedalo and sail calmly out over the shallow waters. Of course if you’d rather do absolutely nothing at all then that is also catered for with a large number of sunbeds and parasols available along the length of the beach.

The beach is great for swimming as it shelves gently into the sea where the water is clear and warm. There are also lifeguards on duty at the beach so it’s a great spot to take kids who want to venture into the sea for the first time.

As S’Arenal de San Antonio is very central so it’s well supplied in terms of facilities. You can head off the beach and into San Antonio at lunchtime to take advantage of any of the numerous bars and restaurants the resort has to offer, or you can move about two metres and pull up a chair at one of the establishments on the promenade. The beach is very popular as it is close to everything in the resort but a little quieter than some of the others on the island and less likely to get overcrowded.

In terms of surroundings, S’Arenal de San Antonio has some pretty spectacular views of the entire Bay area and is another of the island’s prime spots for sunset watching. Take up a position on a sunlounger near one of the beach bars and as the sun goes down you can enjoy an evening tipple with fantastic views without even moving from your lounger.
