Cala Conta Beach

A mere fifteen minutes drive from San Antonio, with crystal clear, Caribbean-like waters, a white sandy beach and rugged surrounding coastline, Cala Conta is regarded as one of the loveliest beaches on the island. The beach is made up of four little coves, two of which are family friendly, one of which is surrounded by rocks making it an excellent snorkeling spot, and one where you can let it hang out on the naturist beach!

Cala Conta is not overwhelmed with facilities but there are sunloungers, parasols and toilets, as well as several restaurants and a beach bar. Restaurant s'Illa des Bosc is a renowned spot for fresh seafood and well worth a visit and you can rock up to the beach bar at any time and enjoy a cocktail to some DJ-spun Ibiza sounds. The beach is situated on a part of the island that has some of the best sunset views in Europe and many holidaymakers arrive late afternoon and bag themselves a seat in one of the restaurants or the bar to take in the spectacular sights. Although Cala Conta is obviously a summertime destination for most, the sunset views from the beach in the autumn are known for being particularly fantastic.

The beach is well connected to the rest of the island and you can arrive by bus, car or ferry. The best bus to catch is from the stop in San Antonio town, which is only fifteen minutes away. If you want to take the ferry you will need to pick it up at San Antonio harbour or one of the various hotels along the Bay where it stops. Because it’s such an attractive spot, Cala Conta does tend to get pretty busy pretty early so it’s a good idea to get your towel down on a sunlounger or spot of sand before the midday heat hits or you might find yourself relegated to the rocks.

One thing to remember with Cala Conta is that there are no shaded areas on the beach so if you aren’t able to hire a parasol when you arrive you are going to need some serious sunblock and a hat!
